Are you looking for ways to teach colors to toddlers? If so, you’ve come to the right place!
In this blog post, we’ll share tips for teaching colors to toddlers. From using blocks to teaching with puzzles, you’re sure to find a method that works for you and your toddler.
Once your toddler is starting to talk and communicate more and more, you might want to think about teaching them useful skills, like identifying colors.
Don’t overwhelm them with a box of 64 crayons of colors. Just pick a few basic colors like red, blue, and green.
Choose everyday objects that have those colors, and then match them and teach your toddler the colors.
Maybe you have blocks that are different colors. Pick a handful of blocks that are red and blue.
Then teach and ask your toddler to identify them.
Don’t Use Common or Similar Colors
Don’t use colors that are similar to each other.
So, don’t use blue and purple together. Don’t use red and orange together. If you are teaching a toddler colors, it might be confusing if the colors are similar.
Just use colors that stick out from each other.
Use color puzzles. There are tons of puzzles available online. You might already have a good color puzzle.
The key here is, find a puzzle where all of the objects are the same, but the colors are different.
So, find a puzzle where there are 10 fish. But each fish in the puzzle is a different color.
Then you can help teach the toddler the colors as they complete the puzzle.
Color Color Color
Just color with the kid. Use crayons and markers. And then say out loud the color you are both using when coloring, so the color name clicks in the brain of the toddler.
